Microschool

What Is a Microschool — And Why Families Are Choosing Them

Microschools are a modern reimagining of education that combines the best elements of homeschooling, private education, and real-world learning. Typically serving fewer than 15 students in a class, microschools offer a highly personalized approach to education that prioritizes individual growth, student voice, and meaningful relationships. Because of their small size, teachers can tailor instruction to each child’s unique learning style, pace, and interests — something that is often difficult to achieve in a traditional classroom with 25 or more students.

The need for microschools has grown rapidly as families seek alternatives to one-size-fits-all education. Many parents want an environment where their children are seen, known, and supported — not just academically, but socially and emotionally. Microschools meet that need by offering flexibility, individualized learning plans, and hands-on experiences that prepare students for life beyond the classroom.

Why Empowered Solutions Microschool Is Different

At Empowered Solutions, we take the promise of microschooling even further. Our mission is to bridge academic and social gaps by creating a nurturing, personalized learning environment where students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Here’s what makes our program stand out:

Small Class Sizes for Maximum Impact

With fewer than six students per class, every child at Empowered Solutions receives individual attention and support. Teachers can truly get to know each student — their strengths, challenges, and goals — and adjust lessons accordingly. This allows for deeper learning, stronger relationships, and more meaningful academic growth.

 Data-Driven, Personalized Learning Plans

We use NWEA MAP testing two to three times a year to measure each student’s academic progress and pinpoint their specific learning needs. These results form the foundation of an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP), which outlines targeted goals and strategies for growth. ILPs are reviewed and updated each semester during collaborative team meetings with teachers and families, ensuring that students stay on track and continue to move forward. This can be especially supportive to students with ADHD and other learning challenges.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Education doesn’t stop at our door. Students regularly participate in experiences that connect classroom learning to the real world. We explore museums, zoos, and visit local parks daily; attend community events. Students also take part in monthly life skills classes at my local farm, where they learn responsibility, teamwork, and practical skills that support their independence and confidence.

A School Designed Around Your Child

At Empowered Solutions, students aren’t just part of a class — they’re part of a close-knit community that celebrates their individuality and supports their growth. By combining personalized academics, meaningful community engagement, and a nurturing environment, we equip students not just to succeed in school but to thrive in life.

Year-Round Schooling

Year-round schooling is especially helpful for students who struggle academically because it reduces long breaks where learning loss can happen. By keeping consistent routines and shorter gaps between terms, students are able to retain more of what they’ve learned and build on their skills without starting over each fall. This steady, structured approach supports deeper understanding and steady progress.
