How Our Microschool Helps Students with ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dysgraphia Thrive

Helping students with ADHD, Dyslexia and Dysgraphia

Many parents ask, ‘How do microschools support students with ADHD?’ At Empowered Solutions Microschool, we believe every child deserves an education that fits the way they learn — not the other way around. Many of the students who come to us have struggled in traditional classrooms because of ADHD, dyslexia, or dysgraphia. These are not “problems” to fix — they are differences in how the brain processes information, and with the right support, they can become strengths. Our approach is designed to meet those needs head-on and help each student grow with confidence.

Individualized Learning Plans That Work With Their Brain, Not Against It

One-size-fits-all teaching simply doesn’t work for students with learning differences. That’s why we create personalized learning plans based on each student’s current skills, challenges, and goals. We use adaptive tools like NWEA MAP testing multiple times a year to pinpoint their growth and guide our instruction. Because the learning plan is tailored to their pace and style, students feel successful — often for the first time — and are motivated to keep going.

A Calming, Structured Environment for Students with ADHD

For children with ADHD, large classes and constant distractions can make learning feel impossible. Our small class sizes (4–6 students) and highly structured daily routines provide the predictability and focus they need. Frequent movement breaks, hands-on lessons, and real-world projects keep them engaged while helping them develop executive functioning skills like organization and time management. Most importantly, we meet them where they are — without judgment — and help them discover their strengths.

Targeted Support for Dyslexia

Students with dyslexia are often bright and creative thinkers who simply need the right reading approach. We partner with The Learning Center, which uses an Orton-Gillingham-based program — a structured, multisensory method proven to help dyslexic learners build strong reading and spelling skills. Combined with individualized instruction and lots of encouragement, our students gain the literacy skills and confidence they need to succeed academically.

Helping Students with Dysgraphia Express Themselves

Writing can be deeply frustrating for children with dysgraphia. At Empowered Solutions, we remove those barriers by integrating assistive technology, teaching explicit handwriting and keyboarding strategies, and breaking writing tasks into manageable steps. By focusing on communication — not just penmanship — students learn to express their ideas clearly and confidently.

Confidence, Growth, and a Love of Learning for Students With ADHD, Dyslexia and Dysgraphia

The greatest transformation we see is not just academic — it’s emotional. Students who once felt defeated start to believe in themselves. They learn that their differences are not limitations but unique ways of thinking that the world needs. With the right support and a nurturing environment, they thrive — in school and beyond.
